Less than a year after the groundbreaking ceremony, SANY Southern Africa has officially opened its new 28,000 m² headquarters and industrial park in Johannesburg — a R500-million investment that redefines local manufacturing standards in the heavy equipment sector.
This new campus is more than a factory. It is the first facility in South Africa established by an international yellow-metal OEM, marking SANY’s long-term commitment to regional industrialisation and skills development. Designed as a multifunctional hub, it combines manufacturing, logistics, training, and aftersales excellence under one roof, with capacity to produce over 1,000 excavators annually for the African market.
At the official opening, Ms. Judith Nemadzinga-Tshabalala, South Africa’s Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour, emphasised that “what sets this project apart is its impact on people.” Beyond machinery, the park will create sustainable jobs and equip local technicians and engineers with world-class skills.
For Hennie Louw, Operations and Marketing Manager at SANY Southern Africa, the project’s completion represents the next chapter in SANY’s vision.

SANY’s localisation strategy continues to advance. Future phases will expand assembly to electric mining trucks and component repair, strengthening the company’s role in Africa’s transition toward intelligent, sustainable mining solutions.
